This is a low-spreading, evergreen shrub that typically grows to about a foot tall and spreads in a ground-hugging fashion to 3-6’ wide. It has two-toned foliage. New growth emerges yellow but matures to blue-green. Overall plant appearance is blue green foliage frosted with yellow new growth at the tips. The yellow color also extends to the new stems before turning brown with age.
Drought tolerant once established. Wants well drained soil in full sun. Grows 3 to 4″ per year.
Juniperus × pfitzeriana is a hybrid designation that includes certain cultivars that are crosses between Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina. Such cultivars in the Pfitzer Group are sometimes commonly called pfitzer juniper. Sometimes sold as Juniperus chinensis or Juniperus x media.
