Grevillea ‘Superb’ is a hybrid of a white-flowered Grevillea banksii from Queensland, and the Western Australian plant Grevillea bipinnatifida. It grows to be about 6 foot tall and 4 to 5 feet across. The inflorescence are quite large and can measure 5″ or more, appearing on the tips of the branches. The individual flowers are moderately densely packed on the raceme and completely encircle the rachis. Individual flowers measure more than 1″ long. The flowers are salmon in color with the perianth changing to red as they age. The styles are red with yellow tips. In warmer climates it is supposed to bloom year round, but the main bloom period is late winter and spring.
Grevillea is native to Australia.
Frost hardy and requires little water once established. Prefers a full sun to part shade position. Grevilleas can be pruned by up to one third in early spring.
Fairly easily propagated from cuttings.
Bred by Merv Hodge in Queensland, Australia.
