A large (up to 8″), early (late May for us) flowering, woody flowering vine with dark green foliage and large. It is one of the most popular Clematis since it was introduced in France in 1897. It has showy pink blooms with reddish-purple anthers and dark pink ribbons on each petal. First flush of large flowers may be followed by a second, smaller flush.
Need regular water in part sun. Should be pruned in late winter or early spring before new growth starts. Avoid heavy pruning.
Softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings.
