This is a natural variation of Chasmanthe floribunda with flowers of a clear, soft yellow. It is often sold as Chasmanthe floribunda var. duckittii, named after the Duckitt family from Darling, on whose South African farm it appeared. Some authorities think the color is determined by a single recessive gene and do not consider it different enough to be a separate variety.
Pronunciation: chas-MAN-thee flor-ih-BUN-duh
Species Meaning: free-flowering, many flowers
Chasmanthe floribunda subsp ducketii is native to South Africa.
26 seeds sown 9/1/2020 in two pots. One was kept in the greenhouse, the other remained outside. While there are plant labels in the pots and I put a blue tape marker on the pot itself, I failed to record which pot was in the greenhouse and which outside. Must do better next time.
As of 12/11 there were a total of 11 plants, 8 in one pot and 3 in the other.
3/8/21 Moved outdoors. They remain in the nursery pots.
