This is a very delicate tender fern, with minutely divided fronds. As with most maidenhair ferns, the fronds are a fresh with black stems. New growth emerges pinkish-brown. It grows to about 12″ tall and wide.
Species Meaning: Small leaved
It is rather picky about conditions, wanting bright indirect light, but direct sun. It wants constant, even moisture, but doesn’t like having its fronds wet, so it is best to water from below. It wants humidity above 60% and temperatures above 65F to avoid fronds dying off. All of this means that this fern spends most of its time in the greenhouse.
