Kiyohime is a dwarf spreading Japanese Maple that is very popular for Bonsai given its small form. An added plus is that it is slow growing and has a long life expectancy. Its leaves are green in summer tinged with yellow and red. Fall colors deepen to a red and maroon. It will typically only get to 2-3′ tall and perhaps 5′ wide.
Pronunciation: AY-ser pahl-MAY-tum
Species Meaning: Shaped like the palm of the hand
It prefers humusy well-drained soil, moderate water and full to partial sun. Very tolerant of hot summers.
