A genus of 20 flowering plants endemic to Asia. They are commonly know as toad lilies. Tricyrtis are herbaceous perennials with creeping rhizomes. They prefer shade or part shade and rich, moist soil. Toad Lilies bloom in summer to fall.
Name Derivation: Comes from the Greek "tri" (three) and "kyrtos" (swelling, arched, bulging or humped) which refers to the 3 sack-like nectaries at the base of the tepals
