There are about 35 species of coniferous evergreens in the genus Picea, commonly called Spruce. They are found in the northern temperate and boreal regions of the World. Trees can grow between 60′ and 200′ when mature.
Picea are conical in shape with whorled branches. Needles have 4-sides, attached singly. Cones and are covered with smooth thin scales that hang down after pollination.
