Perennial, almost evergreen shrubs, with a rather straggly, twiggy nature, or at least they have been so far for us, but it remains in a pot. It is their flowers that hold the attraction. They are little lanterns, that range in color from pastel peach, cream, pink and pale yellow, to white and deep colors. They range in size from 2′ to 8′ depending upon cultivar.
They need fun sun, rich soil, and plenty of moisture in summer.
Name Derivation: From the Arabic word for a mallow-like plant
